I am drawn to the imposter light, the appearance that the streetlamp is illuminating the entire world, and also to the color of the lamp itself, something invisible to us in real life. Here the structure which is supposed to illuminate instead hides the real sources of light in the scene, the sun. There is something beautiful yet sinister in these images, where the privileging of one subject renders the larger scene obscure. That these are photographs, dependent on light for their creation and viewing, seems to me particularly appropriate.

All images are archival inkjet prints, 24"x24"
